The World Within: treatment

DPNR onboarding trailer for Lital (litalshoshan), order FO51519D29BC1, 75 seconds. This is the full plan before anything is built. Nothing here goes to Lital until you have read it. Her version is a short Hebrew page made from this one.

1. Bad news first

She rejected v2 completely (06/10 16:54). Her words: "a collection of scenes and frames that don't connect into one experience". She asked if we honestly can reach her level: depth, 3D feel, movement, continuity, very high resolution, a real trailer.

Why it failed, measured: 22 pieces averaging 3.4 s each (her reference Globosome averages 12.1 s). One voice read cut into 8 parts. One stock track cut in 2 places. AI clips made at 1344x768 and blown up. And we sent a film when we had promised her a storyboard first.

The deadline cannot hold. Due Sun 11/10 09:44, no work on Saturday. A film at her references' level needs about 4 more working days after she approves this plan. I need your decision on asking her for an extension to Thu 15/10 (section 12).

3. What her references really are

Both films are studio 3D animation, not AI (Globosome: Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, 2013. IO: a studio short with full 3D, rigging and orchestra credits). So "beat the AI look" means building it the way they did: real 3D and real cameras. What they do, measured:

GLOBOSOME 0:11 One unbroken 26 s dive through nebula into a single point of light.
GLOBOSOME 0:33 Thin, wide-spaced title floating inside the clouds, not on top.
IO 0:18 One 35 s move: space, down into the leaves, back out to the whole planet.
IO 0:52 The pull back ends on the full planet: scale is the emotion.
GLOBOSOME 0:47 Debris close to the lens, the planet far away: depth from layers.
GLOBOSOME 4:18 Near-silence, haze between near and far. Darkness is a colour.
IO 5:22 The explosion goes to pure white for 3 s...
IO 5:31 ...and the white becomes the warm sunlit room. Our door ending does exactly this.
What they doMeasuredWhat we take
Long shotsGlobosome: 23 shots in 279 s, average 12.1 s, longest 26 s and 46 s. IO: longest 35 s9 moves in 75 s, average 8.3 s, every join hidden inside motion
DepthEvery frame has something near the lens, a subject, and a far background; haze between them; shallow focusThe same three layers in every frame of ours, plus one particle system that lives through the whole film
Scale changes inside one shotPlanet to a crack in the rock (0:38 to 0:49); a tree to the whole globe (2:00 to 2:16)Our whole film is this: universe to a man, man to atoms, atoms to a galaxy
White and black as transitionsGlobosome power-off to black (2:56), IO white flash into the room (5:12 to 5:30)Black at the freeze and before the inner galaxy; white at the door
Sound on every movementSwooshes on camera moves, crackles on sparks, silence on the blackoutA sound list per beat (section 8)
ScoreBoth: orchestra plus electronic pulses, builds, a full stop, then releaseThe same family, edited to our picture
Wide cinema frameIO is letterboxed 2.39:1 inside 16:9We do the same: it reads as cinema at once, and Hebrew subtitles get a clean band

4. The idea, and why it is the industry way

Her script is the shape of two famous single shots.

Contact (1997), the opening: one camera move of 4,710 frames, from Earth out through the solar system and the galaxies to the edge of the universe, ending by coming out of a girl's eye. Made by Sony Pictures Imageworks in 3D.

Fight Club (1999), the titles: one 95 s shot that starts at a spark between two nerve cells, pulls back through the brain, the skull and the skin, and comes out of the actor's forehead. Made by Digital Domain in 3D.

Her film is those two shots joined: in from the universe, through the eye, down to the atoms, and out again. So the professional way is the same as theirs: one virtual camera that never cuts, built in 3D, with real filmed footage only where a real camera could stand.

Our three ideas inside it (she asked for our creativity on 04/10):

  • The same galaxy, twice. The galaxy we fly past at 0:06 is the exact galaxy that appears inside him at 0:47. The viewer feels the rhyme before they understand it.
  • A straight fall. From space to the man, the camera only looks straight down. The real footage we found is all shot from straight above, so the joins line up on one axis and never feel like a cut.
  • The door is the onboarding. The light floods to white and the white is her platform's own screen. The viewer has physically crossed in.

5. The film, beat by beat (her timings)

OURS a frame we rendered tonight in 3D on our machine (first look, not final). REAL 4K a real filmed clip from Artgrid (our paid plan), shown here from its small preview, graded to our look.

01

The universe

0:00 to 0:08
OURS Frame 1: complete darkness, one point of light. This exact point returns at 0:44.
OURS 0:06: the galaxy we travel toward, rendered in Blender, 1.5 million stars. The same model returns inside him.
Picture
We move toward the point. Stars appear one by one, then thousands. The camera accelerates and passes the galaxy.
Made with
Blender 3D (measured tonight: 8.6 s a frame at full HD on our GPU). Dust passing close to the lens for depth.
Into next
The galaxy core blooms white and the camera keeps going: the light becomes our Sun.
Voice
Look out into the universe. Infinite worlds. Infinite possibilities. And somewhere within it all... is you.
Sound
Almost silence. One deep sub tone. A slow pulse appears at 0:03. Each star layer passes with a soft air sound.
02

The fall to the person

0:08 to 0:17
REAL 4K Earth from space (Artgrid 6594128, guide only: in the build Earth is our own 3D globe from free NASA maps, so it can turn and fall in one move).
REAL 4K Artgrid 6371583: a drone diving straight down between Manhattan towers, 30 s.
REAL 4K Artgrid 6251049: a crowd crossing, seen from straight above, 34 s.
REAL 4K Artgrid 590160, the key shot: filmed from straight above, a man in a dark suit stands still while the crowd blurs past him. This is her script's "one person standing still within the movement of the world".

How the fall stays one move

  • Every piece looks straight down, so the camera axis never changes.
  • Space to city: a layer of clouds passes the lens and hides the join (the standard trick for this exact move).
  • Towers to crowd to the man: each join is a push-through with speed blur, matched in After Effects on the same centre point.
  • The speed falls from very fast to almost still exactly as we land on him.
Voice
This is the world we see. Our relationships. Our work. Our choices. The life happening around us.
Sound
Wind through the atmosphere, the city rising up from below: traffic, steps, voices, all far away, then close.
03

The outside

0:17 to 0:27
REAL 4K Artgrid 607864: faces only as motion blur.
REAL 4K Artgrid 357134: a man in a dark coat from behind, glass and stone.
REAL 4K Back to him, the world now much faster.
Picture
He stays still. Around him the world speeds up: fragments of reflections, glass, passing faces in blur, light on architecture, a screen glowing for a moment. Nothing literal. The cutting gets tighter with the music, but he is always the still centre.
The freeze
At 0:27 everything stops mid-step. One frame held. All sound gone.
Voice
And when something isn't working, we look outside ourselves. We try to change our circumstances. Other people. The outcome.
Sound
The score builds; city sound gets faster and closer; then total silence at the freeze (about 1.5 s), only a faint high ring fading out.
04

The turn inward

0:27 to 0:39
REAL 4K Artgrid 699714: a dark eye, real macro. We push into the pupil.
OURS Inside: a landscape of nerve cells with a horizon, fog and gold pulses. Rendered tonight, 30 s a frame.

Not a medical film

Her script: "discovering an unknown landscape that has always existed inside us". So it is built like a land: a horizon, fog that hides the far distance, light travelling along the paths. No textbook colours, no labels.

Picture
The frozen world. The camera slowly moves to him, for the first time close. The eye. Closer. Into the black of the pupil, and the black opens into the inner landscape.
Voice
But what we see outside... is only the effect. The causes are deeper. Our patterns. Our needs. Our boundaries. Our values.
Sound
A heartbeat enters with the push. Low frequencies. Small electrical crackles when pulses pass the camera. Tension rising.
05

The universe within: the main WOW

0:39 to 0:51
OURS One cell is chosen, we enter it: molecules, atoms, particles, each one darker and simpler.
OURS 0:44: darkness. The same point of light as frame 1. Then another. Thousands.
OURS 0:47: the camera pulls back and they are a galaxy. The same galaxy as 0:06.
Picture
The longest move of the film, 12 s with no cut. The pull back alone lasts 6 s. Her words: "give it space, don't rush it".
Voice
There is an entire world within you. And the world within... shapes the world you experience outside.
Sound
A rising tone as we shrink toward the atoms, then almost nothing. One tiny tone when the light appears. Then the release: the score's biggest hit lands exactly on the pull back.
06

Inside to outside

0:51 to 1:01
Picture
A pulse of light starts deep in the inner galaxy and we travel out, fast: galaxy, particles, cell, the landscape, out through the eye, up to the overhead view of him. Same street, same man, but now the light radiates out from him and the crowd moves at normal speed around him. Nothing became perfect; the direction changed. Same shot as beat 2, played the other way round.
Made with
The same 3D camera path played outward at speed with motion blur, then Artgrid 590160 again with the light pulse added in After Effects.
Voice
It shapes how you choose. How you respond. How you connect. And ultimately... how you live.
Sound
The score rides its peak; reversed air sounds pull us out; the city comes back, but calmer.
07

The question

1:01 to 1:10
OURS The space: vast, dark, one simple door, a thin line of warm light around its edges, its reflection on the floor. Rendered tonight, 23 s a frame. He walks in from the bottom of frame (a real filmed silhouette added in compositing, never a 3D puppet).

On screen, centred, held 2.5 s:

WHAT IS REALLY SHAPING YOUR LIFE?

The world fades away around him and only the space is left. The music becomes intimate.

Voice
So if you could look deeply enough within yourself... What would you discover is really shaping your life?
Sound
His steps on stone, the room's air, a low string note, then hold.
08

The door

1:10 to 1:15
REAL 4K Artgrid 673403: a hand on a door handle, warm backlight.
The end card from the storyboard Danalyn approved: DPNR, the thin ring, simple type.
Picture
His hand reaches the door. Touch. It opens, the light floods to white, and the white settles into the end card on her platform's background.
Voice
There's only one way to find out.
On screen
READY TO GO WITHIN?  ·  BEGIN YOUR JOURNEY →  ·  DPNR
Sound
One last build. The touch (a soft click). The door (air rushing in). The light (a warm swell). DPNR (one clean tone).

6. The edit map: one ride, 75 seconds

camera speed and music energy across the film

Her script asks for "at moments enormous, intimate, fast, almost still". The blue line is how fast the camera moves, the gold line how loud the music is. Two silences (the freeze, the darkness before the inner galaxy) and one release. The picture is cut to the finished voice and music, not the other way round: we lock the sound first, the trailer industry's normal order.

7. Look and text on screen

Colour, moving from cold to warm

space
Earth
city
inside
dark
galaxy
door
light
  • Deep blue and steel, with gold only for light that means life (pulses, the door).
  • No neon, no magenta, no green (her script). Our v2 grade had magenta; gone. Her ring's violet appears only on the approved end card.
  • One grade across every source, one film grain, one lens look (soft flare, slight edge falloff), so real footage and 3D feel like one camera.
  • Wide cinema frame 2.39:1 inside 16:9, like IO.

Text on screen: only her words

  • Only the 4 lines her script asks for. No extra titles. Eli asked about text: adding more would fight the Hebrew subtitles and make it feel like an ad.
  • Type: a thin, wide-spaced modern capital, like Globosome's title (Jost Light, free licence), about 2.6% of the frame height, white at 90%.
  • The text sits inside the 3D space, behind the haze, and fades in over 1.2 s while drifting slowly. Never slammed on.
  • Hebrew subtitles: in the black band under the picture, 2 lines at most, timed to the voice by a person, also delivered as an SRT file.

8. Music and sound

Option A, my pick: "Edge of Space" Envato 5CCXS69

Starts with piano and a sub pulse (mystery), builds with drums and strings, full orchestra peak, and a real full stop before its last hit (measured: 2:30 to 2:32).

Option B: "Hybrid Cinematic Epic Trailer" Envato 7R35Q6Y

Bigger and darker, with choir. More "movie trailer", less intimate. Risk: the choir can feel too epic for the inner part.

Option C: "Documentary Epic Trailer" Envato AT4A4WA

Piano and drums, no brass, no choir. The most human. Risk: less WOW at the release.

These are Envato's preview files, which have a spoken watermark every few seconds; the licensed file has none and comes with our subscription.

How the music is edited (Option A)

Sound effects, one layer per moving thing (her "rustle of trees" note: every movement has its own sound)

BeatSounds
1 Universesub tone, slow pulse, soft air on each star layer, a low swell passing the galaxy
2 Fallwind of the atmosphere, cloud rush, city rising from below (traffic, steps, voices, far then near)
3 Outsidefaster city, glass, passing whooshes on each fragment, then the freeze: cut to zero with a high ring
4 Inwardheartbeat, low rumble, electrical crackles on passing pulses, a soft "membrane" sound entering the pupil
5 Withina rising tone toward the atoms, silence, one tiny tone for the light, then the music's release
6 Outwardreversed air pulls, a light "bloom" sound from him, calmer city
7 Questionfootsteps on stone, room air, one low string
8 Doorhandle click, door air, warm light swell, one clean final tone on DPNR

From Envato's sound library (included in the subscription). Mix for the web: -16 LUFS overall, peaks below -1 dB.

9. The voice

Recommendation: say yes to Rad recording it.

She suggested it herself (06/10): he is American with a deep, strong voice. A founder's own voice carries the "human tone" she loved in the welcome video. We send him one page: the script with a breath mark at each place the picture needs, our timing guide, and simple recording steps.

  • Quiet room with soft things around (a closet full of clothes works), phone or mic about a hand's length from the mouth.
  • WAV file, the whole script in one go, 3 full takes, then the last line 3 more times.
  • Direction: lived-in, between pain and wonder; strong but never selling. Last line flat and low, no smile, no rise.

If Rad does not record: Woman A, the voice she chose, as one continuous take (no cutting into parts this time). Her full read is already done: 114 of 114 words heard right, 51 s.

Either way the picture is cut to the voice, and nothing is split.

Woman A read with the breaths placed where the picture needs them.

10. Every tool you asked about, and what it does here

ToolWhat it does in this filmProven?
Blender 3D (free, on our GPU)The universe, the galaxy (used twice), Earth from free NASA maps, the inner landscape, cell to atoms, the dark space and door. One camera path through all of it.yes: the 3 frames above rendered tonight, 9 to 30 s a frame at full HD
Artgrid (paid plan to 17/06/2027)Every human-scale moment: the dive, the crowd, the standing man, the eye, the hand, the street. All 4K, real cinema cameras.yes: clips found and previewed tonight
After Effects (driven by script, as on the Makat film)Joins the 3D and the real footage into one move: the push-throughs, the cloud pass, the freeze, the light pulse from him, the text in depth, the grade, grain, lens look, the white flood.yes on Makat; this film's joins are proven only on the first finished shot
Envato templatesSmall finishing pieces only: real lens flares, light leaks, dust and particle layers. I do not recommend the "Earth zoom" or "eye zoom" templates as the main move: they are shared by thousands of videos and would look like a template. Our own 3D does it better.yes

11. What she receives

OrderWhatFormat
1, nowEnglish master, voice + her on-screen words16:9, 3840x2160 (4K), picture in 2.39:1 cinema frame; plus a 1080p web copy
2, after she approves the masterHebrew subtitle versionSame film, subtitles in the band under the picture, plus an SRT file
3, after approvalVertical for mobile9:16, 1080x1920, re-framed full height (no bands)

Render time measured tonight: the 3D parts are about 45 s of the film, about 10 hours of rendering at 1440p, run overnight. Real footage is native 4K.

12. Schedule, the extension, and the risks

DayWhat
Wed 07/10You read this by 16:00. Her Hebrew version at 18:00.
Thu 08/10On her yes: the first finished shot, the opening fall 0:00 to 0:17, full quality with sound. She judges the level on it before anything else is built.
Fri 09/10Beats 4 and 5 (until Shabbat).
Sat 10/10No work (her wish).
Sun 11/10 to Mon 12/10Beats 6 to 8, the sound mix, Rad's voice in.
Tue 13/10Full film, checked by a VA first, then to her.
Wed 14/10 to Thu 15/10Her notes, final, Hebrew version.

Your decision: ask her for an extension to Thu 15/10?

I recommend yes. The current due date is Sun 11/10 09:44, and Saturday is off. Without it, we either deliver late on Fiverr or rush, and rushing is exactly what she rejected.

Risks, honestly

  • The cloud join from 3D Earth to the real dive is the hardest seam. Proven or not on Thursday's shot.
  • One person: only one clip of this man exists. Everything else of him is from behind, a silhouette, the eye, the hand. If she wants to see his face, that needs a different solution.
  • The galaxy above is a first look. Final needs colour in the arms, glowing gas and dust. Not final quality yet.
  • Rad's recording quality is unknown until we hear it; Woman A is the backup.

What we ask Lital
